Stockist and value added reseller for Korry Nightshield

Consolite has access to possibly the most complete range of filter materials available anywhere – plastics and glass, absorption and coated interference types. This is backed up by our in-house capability to analyse and design the optimal solution for any specific light source in both internal and external environments, and to meet any of the various international standards and specifications such as MIL-STD-3009, RTCA/DO-275, STANAG 3800 and DEF STAN 02-587 Part 3, as well as other customer specific requirements.

Filters have been developed for the complete range of aircraft cockpit and lighting applications such as instrument lights, panel lighting, illuminated displays and floodlights, as well as for vehicle interior lighting, instruments and displays, and for exterior lighting on both aircraft and warships. Most filter types can be supplied with anti-reflection coatings for use on instrument displays and, for EMC requirements, with conductive ITO coating or an integral metal mesh.

Consolite is the UK stockist and value added reseller for Korry Nightshield polymeric filter material. All commonly used types are usually available from stock and can be rapidly cut to shape with our laser facility. Consolite has developed, with Korry, a unique material type known as NS Glass, combining the benefits of glass and polymeric filter materials into one filter.

We offer a rapid response to providing tailor made solutions to specific customer needs and the ability to manufacture to the highest quality standards cost effectively and on short lead times.

Filter Types

Filter materials fall into two basic types – absorption and interference.

Interference filters use a special coating on a glass susbtrate to reflect the unwanted near-IR wavelengths back towards the source. They have high transmission and excellent colour retention, but on the down side the coating can only be applied to flat surfaces and appears reflective, so cannot be used in front of displays. The coating is tailored to the specific requirements.

Absorption filters work by absorbing the unwanted near-IR wavelengths through the body of the material. They can be glass or polymer, and can be used in different shapes, but have generally lower transmission than interference filters.

Custom Filters

Much of our filter design work is for specific customers with requirements outside of what can be achieved with off the shelf material types.

We use our in-house design tools and databases of material properties, combining different technologies and materials for specific performance levels in areas such as:

  • High (or low) transmission
  • Contrast enhancement
  • Restricted chromaticity
  • Enhanced NVG compatibility
  • Controlled IR transmission (NVG friendly)
  • IR only transmission (covert)
  • Special coatings
  • High temperature resistance

Performance can be verified in our dark room test facility.

The range of available filter material types is so great we have developed an aid to filter selection, including links to datasheets for each material type.
