The Scene

Discharged cartridge cases have long been gathered at crime scenes in the hope they will provide evidence of the chain of events.

The cartridge can be matched with the weapon used through ballistic science, and it can be swabbed for DNA. However, it is rare to find fingerprints as any deposits are usually destroyed when the weapon is fired. Any that are found have usually been added after the shot was fired.

Consolite Forensics' CERA now changes that.

CERA is based on the revolutionary invention by Dr.John Bond of the Northamptonshire Police in the UK, with whom we have been working very closely. Through application of a high electrostatic potential and a special charged powder latent fingerprints can be revealed. This can give results even when there is nothing visible to the naked eye, and after other forensic techniques such as cyanoacrylite fuming and DNA swabbing have been tried.
